General Requirements
An applicant for admission to a programme shall be:
1. A holder of an honours degree of this university or other recognized university;
2. A person who holds other qualification(s) approved by senate;
3. Notwithstanding (1) and (2) above, an applicant may be required, as a condition for admission, to undergo a selection process.
Candidates (Nigerians) who have not completed the National Youth Service Corps assignments or their current Postgraduate programmes need not apply.
Candidates awaiting Bachelor’s degree results need not apply.

ELIGIBILITY FOR M.Phil / Ph.D PROGRAMMES
General Requirements
Masters of Philosophy (M.Phil)
An applicant for admission to this programme must be:
1. A graduate of this or other recognized university who has obtained the appropriate Bachelor’s degree with at least a Second Class (Upper Division), or Masters degree or equivalent.
2. The candidate with a Masters degree or equivalent must have a CGPA of at least 2.50 on a scale of 5.0 grading system in use before 1990/91 or 3.50 in the grading system after the 1990/91 session.
Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D)
An applicant for admission to this programme must be:
1. A graduate of this or other recognized university who has obtained the degree of Masters of Philosophy (or equivalent) may be admitted as a candidate for Doctor of Philosophy . OR equivalent) with a CGPA of at least 2.79 in the grading system in use before 1990/91 or at least 4.00 in the grading system after the 1990/91 session.
For M.Phil and Ph.D programmes only, admission shall be processed at the beginning of each semester.
