Stephen O. Ogunlana is currently the chair of construction project management in the School of the Built Environment, Heriot-Watt University, UK. He was formerly the professor of construction at the Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand. He is the joint coordinator of the International Council on Construction Innovation and Research’s (CIB) working commission on construction in developing economies (W107). He is also a member of the W92, the Commission on Construction Procurement and TG23, the Task Group on Culture in Construction.  Be sides the CIB, he is/has been a member of several professional and academic societies including the Nigerian Institute of Building, Chartered Institute of Building, American Society for Engineering Management, Systems Dynamics Society and the Academy of Management.

Professor Ogunlana is the editor of the book “Profitable Partnering for Construction Procurement” published by Taylor and Francis (SPON). He has also edited/co-edited several books and conference proceedings. He is the author/co-author of over 200 scholarly publications on construction management.

Professor Ogunlana is a regular speaker in international conferences and symposia. He conducts training in project management, construction risk management and contract procurement. He has advised several government agencies and private companies on construction procurement and contract management. He has served as a consultant to UN-Habitat and many companies in Asia and Africa.

Professor Ogunlana also a member of European Commission network for research in public private partnerships for construction procurement where he served as the coordinator for South-East Asia. His research and consulting interests are in general project management, risk management, public private partnerships, organizational learning, system dynamics simulation, human resources development and construction process improvement.

Professor Ogunlana was educated at the University of Ife (bachelor and master degrees) and Loughborough University, United Kingdom (PhD). He is/has been visiting scholar to several universities. He is/has been on the Editorial Board of about a dozen internationally refereed journals.
