Dr. (Mrs.) Taiwo Folasade Ipaye was born some 45 years ago, A very dedicated and experienced administrator, Dr Ipaye obtained her Bachelor degree in Education/History from the University of Ife, now Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife in 1985. Thereafter, she earned a Master’s degree in Educational Administration from the University of Lagos, in 1987 and capped this with a Doctorate degree in Educational Administration from the same University in 2008.
Dr. Ipaye was appointed Deputy Registrar by the University Governing Council in April 2009 and in June was posted to the School of Postgraduate Studies as the Deputy Registrar/ Administrative Secretary. She joined the services of the University of Lagos as Administrative Officer I in December 1989. In February 1991, she became an Assistant Secretary in the Provost Office and rose steadily the position of Senior Assistant Secretary in October 1996 and Principal Assistant Secretary in October 2000. Nine years later, Dr. Ipaye was appointed Deputy Registrar.
Prior to this appointment, she was the Principal Assistant Secretary in charge of the Personnel Unit of the College of Medicine where she had the oversight of the three sections of the Unit viz: Academic Personnel, Administrative and Technical Personnel as well as the Junior Personnel Section. The Unit is responsible for processing the recruitment and appointment of staff into various teaching and non-teaching positions, appointments, appraisal and promotions of staff as well as the training of all cadres of staff in the College.
Before joining the services of the University of Lagos, Ipaye had worked with the Lagos State Polytechnic, Isolo as Administrative Officer I (1988-1989) and King Ado High School, Lagos Island as Teacher/Head of Social Studies Department (1987-19880).
With over 20 years of experience in tertiary education management, particularly University administration mainly at the University of Lagos, Ipaye has in the past handled personnel matters including teaching and non-teaching staff appointment, staff welfare, protocol and general administration. She is quite conversant with academic staff matters as well as public relations issues. She worked at close quarters in the past with three Provosts (the Chief Executive Officer of the College of Medicine) and actively participated in the formulation and execution of policies and ideas. On a number of occasions, Ipaye held brief for the College Secretary, the head of the College administration. she also served as the Facility Manager for the College Information Communication Technology Project donated by the Education Trust Fund; Member, Committee for the Implementation of the Assimilation of the School of Radiography, and Junior Staff Disciplinary Committee. Secretary, Medilag Ventures Board, the ETF/IT Committee, as well as the Assistant Secretary of the National Association of Colleges of Medicine (NACOM).
Dr. Ipaye is a member of many professional bodies; the Nigerian Institute of Management NIM; The Association of Nigerian University Professional Association (ANUPA); as well as Association of University Administrators (AUA,UK ) She is widely travelled and has attended many local and international conferences, and has a number of publications to her credit. She is also a member of some social and religious organizations and is an active member of her church- The Chapel of Christ Our light, University of Lagos.
Ipaye is happily married and blessed with three children.
