Prof. Oluwatoyin Temitayo Ogundipe, Ph.D, MBA,LEAD-Fellow, FLS, is a Professor of Botany and Dean, School of Postgraduate Studies, University of Lagos. He received his undergraduate degree in Botany in 1984 from University of Ife, Ile-Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University, Ife) and his MSc in Botany in 1987 from University of Ife, Ile-Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University, Ife). He earned his PhD in Botany also from the same university in 1990 and proceeded later to the University of Lagos where he received the MBA degree in 1997. Prof. Ogundipe’s many awards include the Postgraduate Fellowship Award, from Obafemi Awolowo University from 1987-1990, Fellow, Linnaean Society of London of 2001, Lennoix-Boyd Memorial Trust of 2005, Bentham-Moxon Trust of 2006.  He has worked in expert capacities in various projects such as Adjunct Professor, Central Michigan  University, Mt Pleasant, USA, in 2001 and Visiting Botanist, Jodrell Laboratory,  Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, U.K from 2004, 2005 and 2006.

The scholar of international repute, joined the University of Lagos as a Lecturer I in 1990. He became Senior Lecturer in 1993. In 1998, he was appointed Associate Professor and in 2002, he became a full Professor.. He was formerly the Head of the Department of Botany and Microbiology. He was also the Sub-Dean of the Faculty of Science, University of Lagos between 1998 and 2000 and the Head of Botany Unit from 1996 to 1998. Prof Ogundipe’s area of research includes plant molecular systematics, paleobotany, cytogenetics and conservation. His research work has appeared in various peer-reviewed journals and presented at several professional national and international conferences in many parts of the world including the United Kingdom, Spain, Ireland and the United States of America. He is a member of many professional associations including the Botanical Society of Nigeria, Nigerian Field Society, The Systematic Association, Science Association of Nigeria and the International Association for Plant Taxonomy. A dynamic, proactive and resilient team person with a strong personality, based on integrity, trust and with good interpersonal and communicative skills. He has authored more than forty published articles throughout his career. His significant involvement in the Church has made him a Pastor in the Redeemed Christian Church of God.
